LEIGH Cricket Club are celebrating another milestone after launching a women’s team.

Head of women and girls’ cricket Karen Brereton believes the announcement represents another bold step forward for the club.

Brereton said: “As our girls’ junior cricket continues to go from strength to strength Leigh CC have decided to introduce an open age women’s team.

“Training sessions are open to everyone no matter what your ability, the training sessions are to be run by qualified ECB coaches and will be a great opportunity to improve fitness as well as developing your cricket skills.

“If you would like to take part in this exciting new section of Leigh CC, we would love to see you down at one of the training sessions listed below.

“If you miss the first registration session, don’t worry – you can register on any of the dates.

“All you need to do is turn up at a session at Leigh CC, Beech Walk in sportswear and trainers. Bats, balls, pads etc are all provided by the club.

“If you can’t make all of the sessions don’t worry – turn up as often as you can and there will be further dates added in September.

“Please note that as these are senior sessions, a minimum age restriction of 15 years is in place – unless invited by one of the qualified coaches.”

Full training sessions will then be held on the following dates:

Thursday August 14th 18.30 – 20.00

Sunday August 17th 10.00 – 12.00

Thursday August 21st 18.30 – 20.00
