In his 93 years, actor Sir Christopher Lee has made well over 100 films as well as numerous TV shows.
But among his many roles there are certain characters that stand out and will be remembered in cinematic history for ever.
Dracula
Sir Christopher became synonymous with the Hammer Horror genre, playing Frankenstein’s monster, The Mummy and numerous vampires, but it was Count Dracula that became his most well known horror role, who he first played in the 1958 film Dracula.
The Wicker Man
Sir Christopher Lee brought a sinister twist to rural life as Lord Summerisle in The Wicker Man.
Count Dooku – Star Wars
The force was with Sir Christopher when he played the ominous Jedi master in Episode’s II and III, winning him a new legion of Star Wars fans.
Saruman – Lord Of The Rings
Sir Christopher grew a long white beard to play wizard Saruman the White in Peter Jackson’s adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s much loved fantasy books.
Scaramanga – The Man With Golden Gun
Sir Christopher played a slightly more modern kind of villain, but was still just as terrifying, taking on Roger Moore’s James Bond in 1974.
Dr Fu Manchu
He first played the moustachioed fictional master criminal in 196 and went on to play him in four more films.
Burgomaster – Sleepy Hollow
Sir Christopher first worked with Tim Burton on 1999′s Sleepy Hollow, which paid homage to the genre of Hammer Horror.
But they formed a strong bond and worked together several more times, with Lee terrifying kids as Willy Wonka’s dentist father in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, and most recently in 2012 on Dark Shadows.
