Prison Break could finally make its break back onto the small screen after rumours of a return.
The series may be released from the vaults of wrapped up shows by Fox for a limited revival that will bring back original stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, according to TV Line.
It is currently in development with the broadcaster and, if it goes ahead, would be expected to follow similar lines to last year’s 24: Live Another Day, which came back for fewer episodes and did not leave an open-ended storyline.
Wentworth and Dominic have previously said that they would like to revisit Prison Break and had even suggested the idea to Fox.
Earlier this year, Wentworth told E! News: “We actually floated the idea to Fox very casually and they seemed very not casual about this interest. They seemed to think there was something there.”
Dominic added: “It’s something that Fox is, as Wentworth said, potentially excited about. Maybe definitely excited about. Maybe definitely.”
Wentworth continued: “To go back and do something like we did at the end of season four, where there were those two standalone episodes where Sarah was in trouble; it was like a hidden chapter, we didn’t know this, but we’re going to share this with you, wouldn’t it be cool to go back and layer one of those things in.
“Like another standalone chapter, this is what you didn’t see before. Or a where are they now, it’s five years later, limited series kind of thing. I think that’d be really cool.”
The pair had already reunited for TV series The Flash, and are due to be seen together again in Legends Of Tomorrow.
