Marisa Tomei is set to become the next big guest star of hit TV series Empire.

Since it launched at the beginning of the year, the US show about a family’s clash for control of their hip hop music company has hooked fans both from the general public, and also celebrities keen to appear as guests.

Now, The Wrestler actress Marisa is also joining the roster of star names attached to the series, where she will play billionaire Mimi Whiteman who loves hip hop music, social trends, high-end fashion and beautiful women, according to Deadline.

She will add an extra level of drama to the battle for who will take charge of the music empire and will appear alongside the show’s regular stars Terrence Howard and Taraji P Henson.

Jennifer Hudson, Courtney Love, Naomi Campbell, Gladys Knight and Snoop Dogg all featured in the first season of the show and Chris Rock, Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz are also lined up for season two.

Marisa rarely appears in TV projects but in the past has starred in Rescue Me and is developing a miniseries about Gloria Steinem which will see her play the famous feminist.
