GOT the January blues and fancy a seaside break?

There may not be sunshine, sunbathing or swimming, but take a short trip up the M57 to Southport and you can have all the relaxing winter warming you need courtesy of The Vincent – a boutique hotel with class and charm all year round.

And the best thing about it is, you don’t need to leave it to experience the escape from the stresses of everyday life that every holiday should offer.

The spa, located on the top floor, offers a variety of treatments, facials and massages using Espa products to refresh and reinvigorate in secluded luxury, or if you fancy chilling with a cocktail in hand head to the small cosmpolitan bar next to reception.

Bedrooms are oppulent and modern in design with flatscreens and Nespresso machines – ours was even high enough to provide a sea view from its Lord Street location – and for those wanting the ultimate treat a stylish penthouse offers an outdoor roof top hot tub and private steam room.

The Vincent’s own restaurant V-Cafe is a cool laidback space fusing both modern and traditional fare but with a twist – if you’re feeling particularly hungry try the satisfyingly tasty lobster mac n’ cheese with leek and parmesan (£20.95) or the duck cottage pie accompanied with braised red cabbage (£16.95).

Or if your palate is tempted by something lighter head east on the menu and sample the extensive range of fresh sushi on offer - from seabass sashimi to chicken and lemongrass there is an option to suit every taste.

For afters you can opt for the dessert sharing platter or flaming smores board where you can toast your own marshmallows at your table. A fun experience that’s almost impossible to resist.

But with everything from breakfast through to brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, evening dinner and cocktails on offer it’s the all-round experience of The Vincent that sets the bar for modern seaside hotels.
