Review: Don’t Tell The Bride, BBC3

MOST women have planned their ideal big day years before the actual event.

But the brave — or maybe stupid — ones on BBC3’s Don’t Tell The Bride have no say at all in organising their wedding.

It is up to the groom to plan every last detail, with £12,000 in his pocket and only three weeks to arrange it.

The third episode in the fourth series of this car crash show saw Manchester couple Colin and Sally get ready to walk down the aisle.

To say the couple had been together six years and were desperate to tie the knot, they didn’t seem to know each other at all.

While Sally had her heart set on a beautiful traditional wedding, chocolate-lover Colin was wrapped up planning a Willy Wonka-themed ceremony.

Unbelievable as it was that a 25-year-old could possibly believe this was a good idea, he went ahead with the theme.

It featured a chocolate fountain, masses of sweets and chocolate, and a cake made of small cupcakes with a large one on the top — which Colin had attempted to make himself, with disastrous consequences.

To my surprise, despite the bridesmaids’ mismatching dresses and the groom’s Willy Wonka dance, complete with costumes and Oompa-Loompas, she didn’t seem too upset.

But you didn’t get to see what happened after the cameras finishing rolling.

I wonder if any of the couples taking part in this seriesactually live happily ever after?
