Leigh Town Centre is set to enjoy the biggest Christmas celebrations yet.

There will be two days of Christmas entertainment. On Thursday (Nov 22)Leigh Town Hall Square will have a children’s fun fair starting at 3.30pm with on-stage entertainment and music from 5.00pm. The Big Christmas Light Switch on, with the Mayor of Wigan Borough, Cllr Myra Whiteside and Father Christmas, will be at 7.00pm followed by a massive firework display after months of organisational work by Leigh Town Centre Management Group, Leigh Councillors and Wigan Council Town Centre Management.

On Saturday (Nov 24) there will be live entertainment starting at 12.30pm in the Spinning Gate Shopping Centre, Leigh Market and Leigh Town Centre which will include the ice pixies and their giant snow globe, magicians, elves, toy soldiers and face painting.

At 3.30pm Santa and real reindeer will sleigh ride into Leigh for a traditional family parade along Bradshawgate, Ellesmere Street and into the Spinning Gate Shopping Centre where Santa and the Mayor will be joined by leigh Centurions players John Duffy and Ryan Brierley at the Christmas lights switch-on and carol singing with Old Hall Brass Band.

The Mayor, who is chairman of the Town Centre Management Group, said: "Leigh town centre is full of festive spirit with so many activities planned for families to get involved in. On behalf of everybody who has worked hard to lay on this year's Christmas celebrations, I'd like to urge people to come to leigh and join in the fun!"

Leigh Town Centre Partnership is a joint initiative which brings together the Loom Retail Park, Spinning Gate Shopping Centre, Leigh Market, Wigan Council’s Town Centre Management and Leigh Sports Village.
