Twin town representative visits Wigan and Leigh College students

STUDENTS at Wigan and Leigh College enjoyed a visit from French ambassador Toussaint Lebeugle who explained his role as the representative of twin town Angers.
For more than 20 years Wigan borough has been twinned with Angers and Toussaint’s role involves arranging for students from Angers to secure work placements and to help them understand more about French culture and the town itself.
The students learned about a wide variety of subjects, ranging from traditional foods to universities, festivals and monumental buildings.
Susan Stone, from Wigan and Leigh College, said: “The students had the opportunity to ask questions and get involved, many were intrigued as to whether most French people eat frog’s legs.
“To their disappointment Toussaint had never eaten them, however he explained that live oysters were a popular Christmas delicacy.
“Toussaint will be staying here in Wigan until he returns to Angers in September. We wish him good luck over the coming year.”
