Mums provide a quality nursery service in Atherton

Sunbeams nursery staff (from left) Angela Williams, Nicola Toone and Hannah Roberts are pictured with Jessica Barrington, aged one, Reece Paddock, two, and Charley Wakefield, three.
HAVING themselves experienced the need for quality child care for their own children neighbours Angela Williamson and Nicola Toone decided they could provide a service that is much in demand.
Last September they were stung into action after reading a Journal story about the shock closure of an Atherton nursery which left parents, children and staff devastated.
Now the Tyldesley-based business partners have refurbished and re-opened the nursery building on Bolton Old Road, Atherton and renamed it Sunbeams Day Nursery.
Angela, aged 36, is a mum-of-three whose children's ages range from eight to 14 years. Nicola, at 33 also has three children aged six to 14.
Angela explained: "After reading the story in the September 13 issue of the Journal about how the former Manor Cribs day nursery closed overnight leaving staff, parents and most of all children ,with no nursery to attend, we decided to pull out all the stops to find out who owned the building."
The duo agreed a long term lease to take on the challenge and next came a costly exercise involving thousands of pounds, two months of decorating, carpeting and overall refurbishment.
"The true test came in meeting all the relevant Ofsted requirements but on January 2 this was all passed with flying colours and a glowing report," said Angela.
"We have 15 children enrolled since we opened on January 7 and the numbers are steadily growing. We have capacity for 56 children."
Now Angela and Nicola are looking forward to working alongside other dedicated staff in making Sunbeams a loving, happy place for children, including their own, to come and enjoy as well as giving parents a real peace of mind at competitive rates.
They cater for children from the age of six weeks to 11 years and are open Monday-Friday between 7.30am and 6pm with before and after school facilities Open day at the distinctive Manor House premises, off High Street, is from 11am to 2pm on January 26.
