FOLK singers will be out in force today, Saturday, to boost the ‘raise the roof’ fund at Astley St Stephen’s Church.

Bram Taylor and friends will perform at the Astley Scout HQ, Ellesmere Street, off Higher Green Lane, where Bram will sing a selection of songs from all his albums and deliver his own brand of down-to-earth humour.

Bram will be supported by talented acoustic folk duo Gary and Jan Harney, from Leigh.

The Harneys have a splendid blend with Jan’s voice accompanied by Gary’s guitar.

Singer-songwriter and talented guitarist Bob Fraser will be performing some of his self-penned songs.

Last year Leigh-based Bram performed in Spain, Holland, Belgium and the United States following the release of his latest CD Jokers & Rogues, his 10th solo album on Fellside Recordings.

Saturday’s concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets (£10 including a hot supper) are available from 01942 671481.
