REPRESENTATIVES of a scaffolding firm have appeared in court after an employee fell through a warehouse roof and died.
Anthony Causby, aged 42, of Leigh, who worked for Atherton-based S&S Scaffolding, was helping to dismantle scaffolding when he stepped onto a fragile skylight and fell 12m to the floor below.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is taking legal action against the company after investigation into the incident at the Walker Snack Foods site in Skelmersdale in December, 2010.
The business, which is based in Arley Way, Chanters Industrial estate, Hindsford, has been charged with breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Work at Height Regulations Act.
Representatives appeared before Liverpool magistrates on Thursday, Feb 7, and the case was referred to Liverpool Crown Court, where the next hearing is due to take place on June 6.
S&S Scaffolding did not enter a plea.
