A MOTHER'S three year battle for her daughter who was abducted by her father and taken to Libya is a truly amazing story.

Colonel Gadaffi, Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown were all involved in the hectic struggle to get Nadia Taylor back to Hindley Green.

But when the going got tough those involved pulled out all the stops in a protracted fight that had an happy ending.

The result is described my Leigh MP Andy Burnham – a major player in Sarah Taylor's ordeal to be reunited with her daughter Nadia – as "one of the most rewarding things I have done".

Now people can read the harrowing tale of the Taylor family's anguish in Sarah's just released paperback For the love of Nadia.

Nadia was snatched from her home by her father Fawzi Abuarghub in May 2007 who said he was taking her to a party.

Her distraught mother gave up her home and civil service job and moved to the north African country to find her daughter.

She was awarded custody by the Libyan courts, but her husband refused to disclose Nadia's whereabouts. They were finally reunited when Nadia was found by British embassy staff after top level politicians became involved including Libyan leader Gadaffi.

When Sarah set off for Libya to find her daughter she kept a diary of events and For the love of Nadia has evolved from that. Now there is the possibility it could be turned into a film.

Nadia is now nine and enjoying life back in England but does have police monitored phone conversations with her father.

"I kept a diary because I wanted to show Nadia when she is older what lengths I had gone to to get her back," said Sarah.

Mr Burnham, who has written the foreword to Sarah's book, said: "Sarah's story is one of an incredible triumph over impossible odds. It is important it has been told and will give hope to anyone who faces a seemingly impossible struggle."

*For the love of Nadia is available from Waterstones, WH Smith and Amazon, price £7.99.
