Developers say they contacted 750 homes over Astley plan
4:10pm Monday 25th February 2013 in News
DEVELOPERS who are aiming to build 200 homes on land at Astley said they contacted 750 people adjacent to the proposed Coldalhurst site.
Peel Holdings, who want to develop 22 acres between Coldalhurst Lane and the East Lancashire Road, have responded to Abbotts Green resident Michell Nuttall's view that most locals were unaware of the plans.
Philip Rothwell, Planning Director at Peel, said: “Although Peel are not obliged to carry out any public consultation in advance of the submission of planning applications, we are of the opinion that it is good practice to do so. "It is not possible to notify everybody who might consider themselves to be affected by the proposed developments but we do try to make sure that most people in the immediate neighbourhood are made aware of the proposals.
"While the Council would normally only notify people who live immediately adjacent to a proposed development site when a planning application is submitted, we do try to cast a much wider net than this.
"In the case of Coldalhurst we notified the occupiers of over 750 houses to advise them that we were holding a consultation at Dam House."
