Gambia benefits from Leigh workers' dressing down

A CHARITY that provides aid for people living in Gambia has benefitted from a good dressing down.
Staff at the Leigh-based Adactus Housing Group raised £600 to the Clear Waters charity by opting to pay £1 each time they took part in a monthly ‘dress down’ day.
So far Adactus employees have raised more than £5,000 for the charity was set up by Mike and Angela Faal, whose cousin Tracey Adu works for Adactus.
Tracey said: "The Gambia is the smallest country in mainland Africa and many people know it as a holiday destination. But there is real poverty in the country too with about a third of the population living below the international poverty line.
"I’ve been to The Gambia myself to see the work of the charity and how every penny raised helps to improve people’s lives, whether that’s providing easier access to clean water, safer play areas or much needed medical equipment to support the local hospital and surrounding rural clinics."
