Specialist equipment stolen from Bolton mountain rescue volunteer's home at Tyldesley

SPECIALIST equipment has been stolen from the home of a rescue team member.

Thieves broke into the home of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team volunteer Paul Chisholm in Stour Road, Tyldesley and stole a large quantity of mountaineering equipment.

The theft is believed to have taken place on Saturday, March 2 A red Petzl Ecrin climbing helmet, a yellow hig visibility vest with a blue 'mountain rescue' logo, a mountain rescue radio case and a LED Lenser head lamp were taken.

Personal items which were stolen include a black and grey rucksack, a Petzl MYO head torch, a Silva compass, Buffalo 6 jacket, Keela jacket, Surefire torch, emergency shelter a Mountain leader first-aid kit, North Face trousers, Petzl Cordex gloves, a thermal blanket and a high visibility bivouac bag.

A rescue team spokesman said: "Obviously Paul and the team are very keen to get these team-issue and personal kit items back, or to receive any information which would lead to their recovery.

"Most of the equipment is of little use unless you are a hill walker or mountaineer and certainly the team issue kit items are only of use if you are a mountain rescuer."
