Atherton & Leigh Foodbank link with Tesco

TESCO is looking to expand its work with local foodbanks after the success of both its National Food Collection in December and specific days in local stores.

They are now looking at holding a possible trial in eight of their stores for a period of four weeks starting in April and Atherton & Leigh Foodbank is one of the chosen charities.

A & L Foodbank secretary Dave Hughes told the Journal: "The trial will involve having a static donation station in Tesco Atherton and customers will be able to donate food at any time. The collection points will be unmanned so there is no need to provide volunteers.

"This is seen as a direct result of the excellent relationship built up between the Atherton Tesco and the Atherton & Leigh foodbank."
