St Mary's Catholic High students celebrate GCSE success at Astley

AN impressive 71 per cent of students who sat their GCSE examinations at St Mary’s Catholic High School achieved five A*- C including English and Mathematics, equalling the previous best results at the Astley school.
St Mary’s head teacher Andrew Dawson said: “ We are absolutely delighted for our students with this set of results. We are proud of all their hard work and commitment which has led to such an impressive achievement.”
Delighted St Mary’s Board of Governors’ chairman Jack Farrimond, praised all involved with the school’s success saying: “I would like to offer sincere congratulations to all our students in achieving these outstanding results. Thanks to all staff at St. Mary’s who have provided excellent teaching, care, guidance and support in the last five years.”
Stuart Barton, assistant headteacher with responsibility for Key Stage 4, praised the work ethic of St Mary’s students “It is so good to see that the hours of preparation have achieved the right result. Our students have attained life long qualifications which will help guarantee that they are successful in progressing to our sixth form college, apprenticeship or employment. Well done to all,” he said.
Top results were: Harry Bartholomew 11 A*, Clare Ginty 10 A* and one A, Ashleigh Stirling 10 A* one A, Alex Barlow eight A* three As, Emily Hindley eight A* three As, Dannika Glaister six A* five As, Katie Dillon five A* six As, Charlotte Ogden seven A* two As, Lucy Burns four A* six As and Zoe Jones five A*, five As and one B.
