ART and Design students at Wigan and Leigh College are among the best in the country.
Nearly half of those studying for their pre degree foundation diploma in the subject scored a distinction which is 24 per cent higher than the national benchmark.
Most of the students will now go on to higher education, either at Wigan & Leigh College, or at some of the top art schools in Britain including the prestigious Glasgow School of Art.
Tutor Robin Salt, course leader of Foundation Art & Design, said: “To have so many of our students reach the top grade is fantastic. It really is down to their hard work and dedication.
“We’d like to congratulate all our students on their results; across the board we have seen some tremendous efforts, and some really creative projects.”
College Principal Cath Hurst OBE said: “We are consistently seeing ourselves above the national benchmark year on year for this course. It shows the commitment of the team we have here at Wigan & Leigh College and the standard of teaching.
“We strive to provide our students with the best learning environment to prepare them for the next stage of their lives, be it further study, or the world of work. This is reflected in the grades and the reputation of this foundation course, which is deemed to be one of the best in the country.”
