Join Leigh Lions and share pride in the community

LEIGH Lions are inviting new members to share their pride in the community.
The area’s branch currently consists of 12 individuals dedicated to assisting others who may be in need of help.
“At the moment we are discussing who we can best assist, local food banks, schools, football clubs who need defibrillators and training in how to use them and next month we are having a big relaunch of our message in a bottle (MIAB) project,” said branch spokeswoman Jenny Curry.
On October 11 at Tesco Extra in Leigh they will be promoting MIAB where an individual’s vital personal health information and medication details are kept in a plastic container in the Kitchen fridge where it is readily at hand should emergency services be called to their home.
The Leigh branch of the The Lions Club International recently held a collection at Morrison’s Leigh store and raised £551.05 for the Blind Veterans Club.
Now the branch is keen to attract new members and full details can be obtained by calling Jenny on 01942 519161.
Forthcoming events include a Greek night at the end of this month at Haydock Park Golf Club and the branch’s 20th charter dinner on October 5 at Leigh Masonic Hall.
