This week the Journal’s Sophie Arnold goes behind the scenes at Leigh Spinners, which is celebrating 100 years in the town
THE next challenge for Leigh Spinners is to make artificial surfaces that are 100 per cent recyclable.
To recycle artificial turf, all the sand and rubber that is added to the surface once it is laid needs to be removed.
As a kilo of sand is needed per square metre, this is no easy feat and a solution to this is being sought.
Leigh Spinners was the first company to produce contract carpet tiles that were completely recyclable.
