2:30pm Monday 23rd September 2013 in News
A CHOIR has raised more than £1,000 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice through performances.
The LGN Choir has more than 80 members from Lowton, Golborne and neighbouring Newton and appeared on Songs of Praise in May.
Set up by keen singer and hospice volunteer Olwyn Rawlinson, the choir chooses a different charity to support each year.
Dr Alan Baron, the hospice’s chief executive, said: “I was truly amazed when we heard the choir sing.
“The standard was fantastic and there was a wonderful community feel to the group with everyone striving to do their best but with plenty of laughter as well.
“Olwyn’s enthusiasm as she conducted shone through, she is a real inspiration.”
The choir’s next performance will be at the Ashton Festival at St Thomas Church Ashton on the September 28 at 7.30pm.
