Councillor arrested for alleged misuse of public office

A TYLDESLEY councillor has been arrested for alleged misuse of public office.
Clr Robert Bleakley was arrested on September 11 on suspicion of fraud and has been bailed until October 16 pending further enquiries.
The Liberal Democrat representative was interviewed for both fraud and misconduct in a public office offenses.
A Wigan Council spokesman said: “The council’s investigation into this matter is ongoing but the action by the police would suggest they feel what this councillor did was very serious.”
