The Voice finalist raises thousands after finishing charity ride

TYLDESLEY singer-songwriter David Julien has completed his mammoth bike ride.
The 24-year-old battled bad weather, mountains and tyre catastrophes to cycle through five countries from Leigh to Barcelona with friend Mark McKeever.
By completing the 1,300-mile ride in only 16 days, the pair have raised more than £3,500 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
David said: “It tested everything we had – determination, stamina, willpower and most of all pain tolerance.
“We have shown to the world that no matter what you’re faced with, if you put your mind to it you can conquer anything.
“Which is what the Alzheimer’s Society is doing, and I know there will be a cure soon for the disease which claimed Mark’s nan and has a horrible hold on mine.”
Through punctures, terrible food, intense heat, downpours and detours the pair triumphantly returned to Leigh two weeks ago.
“Everyone we spoke to asked if we had a support vehicle and with a false confidence we always said we didn’t need it. It became obvious quite early on that we did,” said David.
“But we were visiting places that would not normally be on a holiday check list. Quaint little villages with original architecture and welcoming inhabitants made the journey enjoyable. The views were breathtaking.”
