THOUSANDS of people are expected to attend a huge event in aid of Derian House Children's Hospice which cares for youngsters from throughout the region.
Staff on the hospice fundraising team are busy completing plans for their Winter Sparkle Spectacular in Astley Park, Chorley, on Sunday, November 3.
First staged four years ago the food and gift fair will raise vital funds for the children’s hospice currently supporting more than 300 families across who have a child with a life shortening illness, and a further 200 who are receiving bereavement support.
The coach house, courtyard and Victorian walled garden at Astley Park will house the event which will feature foods from around the world ranging and stalls selling gifts and seasonal products in an Austrian-style Market within the Victorian Walled Garden.
A Dickensian Father Christmas, an outdoor Ice Rink, and Derian House Christmas cards and gifts will be available. Santa’s reindeer will be in their paddock outside the hall where added attractions include carriage rides, mulled wine and mince pies, an old time carousel and vintage bus rides, plus music by Chorley Silver Band and a display by Leyland Morris Men.
Susie Poppitt, fundraising manager at Derian House said: “Last year, more than 8,000 people visited and the feedback has been absolutely fantastic. We hope to build on what was a great event, and make this year even better!”
