THERE is plenty of choice for families over the bonfire weekend.
Firework displays will be taking place across the area. Here are a few to look out for:
- A fireworks extravaganza will be taking place at Leigh Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club.
The family event will include a fairground that opens at 5.30pm, a children’s firework display at 6.45pm and an adults’ extravaganza at 7.30pm on November 5.
Tickets are £6 per adult, £4 for children over two, or £15 for a family and are available from leighcc.org/ or on 01942 671818.
- Golborne Sports Club will be holding its firework display on Saturday.
Tickets are available from the sports club, Doggy Style grooming salon, Golborne, and News ont’ Corner on Slag Lane. There will be a stall selling treacle toffee and toffee apples, set up by the club to raise money for training equipment.
- A more traditional Bonfire Night will be held at Golborne Parkside Sports and Community Club on Tuesday, November 5.
The event begins at 6.30pm with the lighting of the bonfire and Guy Fawkes at 7pm and a firework display at 8pm. Food, drink and indoor entertainment will also be available.
Tickets cost £5 for adults, £3 for under 12s or £12 for a family.
- A fireworks spectacular and family bonfire is being held at Haigh Country Park. The event begins with the bonfire lighting at 6pm on Sunday, with a professional firework display from 7pm.
Tickets booked in advance cost £7 for adults, £5 for children and £20 for a family, plus a booking fee, available from wlct.org/wigan or call 01942 828271.
Adults’ and children’s tickets cost £8 and £6 on the night.
Tickets for the popular bonfire supper at Haigh Hall on the same night have all been sold.
