A COMPANY has settled into its new home in Leigh, bringing with it jobs and apprenticeships.

DenLAB is a dental laboratory which sells a number of products, including retainers and gum shields, to dentists and directly to the public.

It also pioneered home impression kits that allow people to avoid dentist trips by making their own mouthguard imprints at home.

The company is also known for the Piranha guard, a specialist sport gum shield used by professional teams such as Wigan Warriors and athletes like Amir Khan.

Managing director Simon Nixon said: “Leigh is a great location. It is central to the north west and close to Manchester Airport, which is good because we get a lot of international business.

“We have more facilities here, such as storage space and training rooms, so we have plenty of space to expand into. We have just taken on two apprentices and we plan to take on two more next year.

“On top of that, we started with just two employees and we now have seven and our projections for next year are that we will be able to employ five more people.

“We will hire people from the local community when we can, because we want to invest in the community and give something back.

“It is really important to us that we play a role in the community we set up in and we hope to do that in Leigh.”

The company is also offering discounts to local clubs as part of this on Piranha mouth guards.

Clubs will get a 50 per cent discount and benefit from a cash back scheme.

DenLAB has set up a permanent office in Trafford House on Platt Fold Street after moving from temporary space in Lowton.
