AN OPERATION to combat shoplifting has resulted in four people being charged.
Alicia Barker, aged 39 of Mealhouse Lane in Atherton has been charged with two counts of shoplifting.
Nicola Lloyd, aged 32 of Bag Lane in Atherton and Gareth Boyer, aged 30 of Kermishaw Nook in Tyldesley, have both been charged with shoplifting.
A 35-year-old man has been given a summons to answer a charge of shoplifting.
Drugs warrants were also executed in the area as part of the operation.
Detective Sergeant John Davies said: "This proactive policing operation was launched to reassure our communities of our commitment to safety and security in shops at this busy time of year.
"We will always respond to any concerns that people may have and hope that everyone in Tyldesley and Atherton enjoys a safe and enjoyable Christmas shopping season."
