A MAN was left with a head injury after he was hit with a bottle in Leigh.

The 22-year-old was walking on King Street at around 4.30am on October 6 when he was approached by a group of men. One of the men went to punch the victim but missed.

When the victim retaliated, he was hit on the head with bottle, causing him to fall to the ground. He was then kicked in the body before the offender walked off towards Spinning Jenny Way.

Police have now issued a picture of the man they would like to talk to in connection with the assault.

Detective Constable Richard Willoughby based at Leigh Police Station said: “The man had been on a night out in the town centre and had been in Vogue nightclub prior to the attack.

“We believe the man in the photo, which had been posted on the club’s Facebook page, was with a group of six to eight men at the same club. We also believe there may have been some kind or argument in the club between both parties.

“I would ask anyone who may recognise this man or who may have seen the victim being assaulted, to contact police.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 7225 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
