YOUNG people from across the borough have taken part in activities to make them think about their employability.

As part of National Youth Work Week, young people from all over the borough converged on the historic hall for a workshop designed to make them think about what skills they will need when they enter the world of work.

The event was organised by Wigan Council's Youth Cabinet and the borough's Members of the Youth Parliament.

Youth Cabinet Member Lisa Brew, aged 20 from Leigh, said: “We hold learning events for young people on a regular basis but we wanted this one to tie in with National Youth Work Week. With the haunted history of Haigh Hall, we decided to make it a horror-themed event and we couldn't have chosen a better venue.

“The evening concentrated on activities that helped young people to work as part of team, to think creatively, to communicate with each other and to give them a chance to try out their leadership skills.”
