A CRIMINAL proved there really is no honour among thieves when he made off with a another crook's stolen property.

Having himself sneaked into a house and stolen the occupant's handbag while she was in another room Jordan Lloyd later met up with another petty criminal.

That man asked him to mind his holdall containing items he had stolen from four parked cars but instead 18-year-old Lloyd legged it with the bag.

Sentencing him to nine months detention suspended for two years the judge, Recorder Michael Smith told him: "This shows there really is no honour among thieves."

He also ordered Lloyd to carry out 150 hours unpaid work and placed him under supervision for two years.

Christine Redmond, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court today, Friday, that a woman living in Platt Street, Leigh, heard a bang in her kitchen about 10.15 pm on November 15.

She checked and saw an intruder who fled and she then found her handbag containing £65 cash, an iPod worth £140, keys and bank cards were missing and she rang the police.

In the early hours of the next morning police arrested Lloyd at Asda in Leigh after reports he had been trying to exchange sat navs for alcohol.

He said he had a taxi waiting and when officers went to the vehicle they found a holdall containing a variety of items.

Inquiries showed that the property had been taken from four cars and when Lloyd was searched £65 cash and bank cards stolen in the burglary were found on him.

Lloyd, of Laxey Crescent, Leigh, pleaded guilty to burglary and four handling offences.

Philip Martin, defending, said that they had been opportunistic offences. He was homeless at the time after his relationship with his parents broke down and he is easily led.
