A CHEF is putting his skills to good use by holding a romantic charity night.

Sean Johnson is taking over Crumbs coffee shop on Valentine’s Day to host a special evening in aid of the charity that supported his sister-in-law who suffers from a chronic liver condition.

He is offering a dining experience for £50 a couple, including a bottle of wine, with all the proceeds going to the Children's Liver Disease Foundation.

Sean, of Conway Close in Leigh, is married to Fiona Young whose 18-year-old sister Natasha has suffered from auto immune hepatitis liver disease for most of her teenage years.

He said: “The charity has been so supportive to Natasha and her family. They have always been there if she of her family needed someone to talk to and they offer respite for families as well.

“They have helped all of us understand what she is going through and I don’t know how any of us would have coped without them.

“Natasha is too old to receive support from the charity now and is under the care of the adult equivalent so this is just our way of saying thank you for all their help.”

The 23-year-old has cooked for people such as the Hairy Bikers and Freddie Flintoff and his last job was at James Martins’ Manchester restaurant.

The Leigh cafe on Bradshawgate has kindly donated the premises for the evening and the waiting-on staff will all be volunteers, including Natasha, meaning as much as possible can be donated to the cause.

Sean hopes to raise £2,000 on the night. He said: “The foundation is in desperate need of funding so I am trying to do my part and hopefully we can help them to continue to support people.”
