Have your say on dementia care services in Leigh
8:10am Thursday 9th January 2014 in News
RESIDENTS are being given the chance to decide how funding is distributed for dementia care services.
Following successful initiatives in the Hindley and Scholes, Leigh residents will be able to have their say throughout January.
Two lunchtime sessions will be held this month, which are open to anyone with experience of dementia to contribute their views to the conversation on how to make Leigh ‘dementia-friendly’.
Clr Keith Cunliffe said: “We want to listen to what people think would improve Leigh. How can we improve the lives of people with dementia and their carers in Leigh by doing things differently?”
The sessions take place at Leigh Miners on Twist Lane, with a free lobby lunch, on Friday, January 17, and Wednesday, January 29, from 12pm until 2pm.
The final event on Thursday, February 27, from 12pm until 4pm, will see organisations pitch their service to the audience before the public votes on where they would like the funding to be spent.
The events are free, but people are asked to let the team know if they plan to attend so they order enough lobby. Call 01942 404260 or email R.Killen@wigan.gov.uk to reserve your free place or to find out more.
