A SCHOOL is celebrating after being recognised as a Dyslexia Friendly School.
Westleigh High School was awarded the accolade by Wigan Council after it was deemed to have adequate protocols in place to support dyslexic students.
The school was assessed by a verifier who looked at practices in place to support students who have dyslexia.
Head teacher John Banks said: “It recognises that Westleigh High School students are all treated as individuals. It is important that all students strive to excel and work to the very best of their ability, using the support from teachers and all staff at the school.”
Kathryn Watts and Sandra Taylor from the council’s Targeted Education Support Services (TESS) presented the school with a wall plaque at a special assembly.
