THE forecast looks bright for a student whose weather website attracted 128,000 hits during his coverage of Typhoon Haiyan.

Nathan Foy has developed a keen interest in climate patterns, and his coverage of the recent devastation in the Philippines on his ‘Force 13’ website saw thousands log on for the latest updates.

The budding broadcaster from Leigh was rewarded for his work with an invitation to Salford’s Media City to see what goes on behind the scenes of some of the region’s most successful shows.

He said: “It was quite an experience to see the actual studio, what goes on behind the studio and have a chat with a few of the people who work there.”

He is studying at Diversity in Barrier-Breaking Communications, an organisation based at Bolton Market which helps people develop confidence through broadcasting.

Nathan presents his own radio show using his bedroom as a base with a computer, monitors and a microphone.
