A COMMUNITY cafe has opened to provide a place for people to meet, chat and socialise.

The new addition to Patrick House in Leigh is thanks to a partnership between charity Compassion in Action and Wigan Council’s catering arm MetroFresh.

Debbie Clarke, from Metrofresh, said: “It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to give something back to the community and allows people from all backgrounds to socialise and enjoy themselves in a safe and relaxed environment.”

Open from 9am until 3pm Monday to Friday, the café also has a large community function room available where groups such as mothers and toddlers, luncheon clubs and businesses can meet.
