PUPILS from a Leigh school have penned the slogan for a new council-backed road safety campaign.

Bedford High School’s year sevens came up with the catchphrase ‘your life, your choice, choose life!’ which has taken pride of place on signs and banners close to the school.

The 11 and 12-year-olds have also become the stars of their very own road safety radio programme and adverts which will be broadcast to listeners across the borough after they were approached by Wigan Council's Road Safety Team.

Form teacher Emma Lamey said: “The students recently took part in a whole day of activities dedicated to road safety. The Road Safety Team gave them a presentation which highlighted the number of young people who are killed or seriously injured on our roads each year.

“To help to get the message across to all young people in the borough, the team asked our students to design a street vinyl that would make children stop and think.”
