FOR one couple the weight loss programme has completely transformed their lives.

Shirley and Kieran Lloyd, of Burns Avenue, Westleigh, lost a combined 13st after signing up for the council scheme and are now training for this year’s London marathon.

Shirley, aged 41, said: “I joined in 2010 and lost five stone. I started to actually enjoy running and when Wigan and Leigh Hospice offered us two places for the marathon we snapped them up.”

Her weight has dropped from 16st 3lbs to 11st 11lbs since 2010, while 34-year-old Kieran’s weight has plummeted from 21st 9lbs to 13st.

He said: “I have more energy now and I feel great physically and know that I look much better than I did. I’m sharper mentally too. I wish I’d done it years ago. I kept saying I would lose weight soon but never did. If you put the effort in, you get the rewards.”
