PUPILS donned high visibility vests and got their bin bags at the ready to clean up an estate in Leigh.
Wigan and Leigh Housing Estate Volunteer Christine Hession is working with the community on the Pennington Estate to remove litter and highlight the issue of dog fouling in the area.
She recruited Christ Church and St Joseph's Primary Schools to help carry out an estate clean up on February 11.
Community Engagement officer for WALH John Latham said: “The Safer Environment team visited the schools to educate young people on the issue of litter and dog fouling. Pupils from the school decided to write poems to express their thoughts, opinions and feelings on the subject.
“The success of the cleanup day has developed partnership working with the schools and agencies who will be working together on future projects.”
