A STUDENT form Golborne has been given an exclusive insight into a life at sea with the Royal Navy.
Twelve public and uniformed services students at St Helens College visited one of the Royal Navy’s most sophisticated ships, HMS Dragon on Monday.
Among the students was 16-year-old Helen Taylor, a former Golborne High School pupil.
She said: “I joined the course to boost my fitness and ultimately gain the skills and knowledge required to apply for the Royal Navy.
“The visit to HMS Dragon allowed me to learn about the kind of ship I would be working on if I was successful in my application and speaking to the crew has given me an insight of what my life could be like once I finish college.”
The state-of-the-art type 45 destroyer sailed into Liverpool on Friday and is closed to the general public.
