MUSIC lovers are being asked to dust off their records and dig out their memorabilia for a new exhibition.

The Museum of Wigan Life is looking for objects and footage for its next exhibition which will celebrate the borough’s diverse and colourful musical history.

The main part of the exhibition will showcase the breadth of musical talent and history of the borough including everything from brass bands, jazz, northern soul, music venues, festivals and local talent including the Beat Boys, Thomas Burke, George Formby and The Verve.

Lynda Jackson, community history manager at the museum, said: “We’re looking for material from all aspects of music in the borough from Wigan Casino to the Beatles playing in Leigh.”

The exhibition is due to launch on May 3. If you would like to get involved, contact the museum on 01942 828128 or email: museumofwiganlifebookings@wlct.org.
