A GUIDED lecture around the Pretoria Pit ruins will given by mining historian Alan Davies.
The Over Hulton Community Group has organised the ‘walk and talk’ around the ruins on the Atherton/Over Hulton border at 10am on Saturday, March 29.
The informative lecture will detail the events of the mining disaster which saw 344 local men and boys lose their lives four days before Christmas 1910.
The group will meet at the end of Broadway off Newbrook Road in Atherton. Attendance is £2 and places must be booked with John Bullen by emailing: j.bullen1@ntlworld.com or calling 01942 874719.
