A KIND benefactor stepped in to help a group of schoolchildren whose plants were stolen by heartless thieves.
After the Journal reported that plants nurtured by children from Christ Church primary school had been stolen from Pennington Hall Park, a business owner decided to help.
Funeral director Jamie Caine and Diane Green, the administrator of Paul Dainton Funeral Directors, on St Helen's Road, donated a plant and Easter egg for every child in year six.
Trisha Taylor, secretary of FoPHP, said: "I am so overwhelmed with Jamie and Diane's gesture.
"It makes you feel that what we are trying to do as volunteers is worthwhile - and there are kind and generous people in Leigh who want to help and try to make what we have even better."
