While this is a great story, and does involve a few local players, this band is based in Stockport not Leigh, and the contest was four weeks ago. This paper failed to aknowledge Fred Tomlinson High School Brass Band won the National Youth Brass Band Championships (Junior section) two weeks ago. This fantastic achievement was a defence of the title they won last year, and even though a large number of key players had changed, they still beat bands from across Britain. This is truly local story.
