THE Prince’s Trust is looking for a new group of young people to help into the world of work.

Dozens of unemployed young people have benefitted from the trust’s 16-week team programmes to help them into jobs, further education or volunteering.

Groundwork is appealing for people to take part in the next personal development course in Leigh which starts on May 12.

Josh Parnell, from Atherton, decided to stay on as a team leader at Groundwork after finishing the course.

He said: “I’ve changed into a totally different person, much more confident and with a real plan to get on.

“I’d recommend it to anyone who’s struggling with their lives or don’t know what to do. I’ve had real work experience as a team member and now I’m moving on to be a volunteer team leader with Groundwork as part of my route to a job”.

Spaces are limited and only open to unemployed 16-to-25-year-olds who will take part in team building activities, a week-long action packed residential trip, a community project and five weeks of work experience during the course.

They’ll also get advice on how to write CVs and help with job search too.

Kirsty Cunliffe, from Leigh, has just completed the course, she said: “I’ve really enjoyed the overall experience of the programme and I’ve got a lot more life skills and improved my confidence and communication.

“What’s more my work experience at Boots Retail has led to an offer of part time employment. It’s brilliant”.
