Members of the Inner Wheel Club of Leigh joined senior member Janet Morris in celebrating her 100th birthday.

"A keen amateur dramatics player for many years Janet was an icon of fashion for Inner Wheel," said club president Dorothy Bowker who presented her with flowers on behalf of the club.

Janet, is now a resident of Bedford Care Home where her birthday party was held and pink balloons and the same coloured cake were provided at Janet's request.

Inner Wheel district 128 chairman Gloria Shepherd presented Janet with flowers and the gifts took pride of place along with a card bearing congratulations from the Queen.

Janet is no longer able to attend Inner Wheel meetings but club members regularly visit. Janet's late husband, Bernard, was a well-known optician in Leigh and their daughter Catheryn was delighted that so many family and friends had helped her celebrate in style.
