A GREYHOUND rescue centre is in desperate need of volunteers, funds and forever homes.

Makants Greyhound Rescue was set up by Siobhan Hoppley in December on Mort Lane, Tyldesley, to help the thousands of greyhounds that end their racing careers every year.

The rescue has a band of volunteers who regularly walk the dogs and arrange collections to raise vital funds to pay for their upkeep and veterinary treatments until they find their forever home.

Sarah Hardman, who has rescued a greyhound, said: “Greyhounds make the most wonderful family pets.

“They are the fastest couch potatoes, who love to sleep and cuddle and spend time with their owners.”
