A NEW development to extend hospice care throughout the community has opened to the public.
The £1.5million, two-storey Woodview Centre at Wigan and Leigh Hospice houses both the Hospice In Your Home team and Hospice Nurse Specialists.
The 1,500sqm annexe to the Hindley hospice will accommodate 35 staff and provides room for the future growth of both teams.
Hospice chief executive Dr Alan Baron said: “This is an outstanding modern facility which will enable us to significantly increase the number of people we care for within Wigan and Leigh.
“Part of our mission is to extend our specialist care throughout the community and the Woodview Centre is a huge step forward in helping us do this.”
