A CHURCH is celebrating its 160th birthday with a weekend of entertainment.

Christ Church in Pennington will be holding an organ recital by Mark Brown on Thursday, June 12 from 7.30pm until 8.30pm and trips up the church tower next Friday, June 13 between 2pm and 3pm (weather permitting) as part of its celebrations.

There will also be a talk on defending Christianity organised by John Bennett, who will show a video and hold a discussion on the subject in Church House.

And the church will be open for private prayers and to look at the archives including parish registers from 9.30am until 4pm on June 12 and June 13 and from 9am until 11am on June 14.
