A FURNITURE retailer is holding an open day to entice their next batch of apprentices.

Sofaworks is opening its doors to young people to give them the opportunity to try their hand at a range of different skills such as upholstery, repairs, operating machinery and developing marketing campaigns.

The Golborne-based family run business has worked with the North Lancs Training Group to create 20 new apprentice positions.

Alyson Fadil, HR Director at Sofaworks said: “We are incredibly excited about welcoming 20 new apprentices into our business this summer. The scheme allows us to recruit and train ‘home-grown’ talent who will ultimately shape the future of our business.”

The apprenticeships are open to people aged 16 to 24 years old who have left full time Education and successful applicants will work towards an NVQ with the opportunity to undertake further professional qualifications in the future.

The open day is on from 10am until 2pm tomorrow, Saturdat at Sofaworks Head Office in Golborne.
