A STAR-studded cast will take to the field as the 50th birthday celebrations continue at Fred Longworth High School.

Stars from Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks will take on a team of players from the Tyldesley school in a charity football match on July 12 at 2pm.

Jan Garretts, head teacher said, “Never mind the World Cup, the Freddie’s celebration match is definitely the “must see” match of the summer.

“Of course, I am confident that our Freddie’s Heroes team will be victorious but, whatever the result, this will be a fitting way to celebrate our 50th birthday.”

Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for children with proceeds going to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity.
